On arrival you will be met at Amman airport or Allenby Bridge and transferred to your hotel in Petra via Desert Highway for dinner and overnight. (D)

Today visit Petra. Often described as the eighth wonder of the ancient world, it is a vast, unique city carved in to sheer rock face. Take a short horse ride through the siq and emerge at the stunning Treasury. Explore the ancient city and see a magnificent theatre, and various tombs, temples, baths and colonnaded streets. After a break for lunch depart the amazing city of Petra and continue to the Dead Sea, a salt lake whose banks are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on earth. Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy, and its mineral-rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments at the local resorts. Relax in the gently lapping waters where you can’t sink, or try the well-known healing powers of minerals from the sea’s muddy floor. Dinner and overnight at your Dead Sea hotel. (B, D)

Depart from the Dead Sea to Mount Nebo to visit the memorial of Moses, the place where Moses climbed to survey the Promised Land. Continue to Madaba, the city of mosaics best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, it is also home to the famous 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem and other holy sites. Drive to Amman with its breathtaking amphitheatre and colonnaded street and take a panoramic tour of the city to see the Souks of Amman, the mosque of King Abdullah the first, and the modern city of Amman with its remarkable architecture. Dinner and overnight in Amman. (B, D)
