Meet and greet on arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight.

Visit the ancient city of Jerash, which is a fine example of the grand formal provincial Roman urbanism found throughout the Middle East, comprising paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, striking theatres, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls. After lunch depart back to Amman. Tour the Citadel and discover ancient surprises around every corner. Admire the craftsmanship on the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace; take a seat in the ancient 6000 seat Amphitheatre, still used for performances today. Dinner and overnight in Amman. (B, L, D)

Depart for Madaba to appreciate the craftsmanship of the ancient inhabitants. View the wonderfully vivid sixth century mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. Continue onto Mount Nebo home to the Monastery built in honour of Moses and enjoy some of the most stunning views of the Holy Land. Continue to Kerak Castle, an example of crusaders’ architectural military genius. Arrive at Petra for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

Spend a day uncovering the delights of the Red Rose city which has only been known to the Western world since 1812. Your guide will take you through the spectacular Siq to view the Treasury, which is the amazing structure appearing dramatically at the end of your journey. Continue your sightseeing throughout this ancient city and encounter the site’s 3000 seat amphitheatre, Palace tomb, temples and houses. Dinner and overnight in Petra. (B, L, D)

Spend the morning at your leisure before departing Petra for Wadi Rum in the afternoon. Gaze upon this unique valley of differently coloured sand dunes ranging from deep yellow to dark red. During your four-wheel drive through the desert admire this landscape that was used as a location for the film Lawrence of Arabia. Appreciate the graffiti left behind by the Nabataean and Arab tribes once inhabiting the area. Enjoy your dinner and your evening entertainment around the campfire. Overnight in a Bedouin Tent. Transfer to the Dead Sea. Spend the day sunbathing, swimming or dining and take advantage of the beauty treatments available. The therapeutic properties of these waters were already known and exploited in antiquity. (B, D)
