Amazing Jordan - Gold

On arrival transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight in Amman.

After breakfast visit the the city of  Jerash, sometimes misleadingly referred to as the “Pompeii of the Middle East or Asia”, due to its size, extent of excavation and level of preservation. Jerash is considered one of the most important and best preserved Roman cities in the Near East. It was a city of the Decapolis. Take a fascinating tour of this unique ancient Greco-Roman city, and walk the colonnaded streets taking in sights such as Hadrian’s Triumphal Arch, Hippodrome, Forum, and Amphitheatre. Return to Amman for a tour of city including visit to Citadel, Amphitheatre and Souk. Free afternoon in Amman to explore the city. (B, L)

Morning depart Amman and drive to Madaba and visit St. George’s Church, home  to the mosaic map of the Holy Land. On to Mt Nebo approximately 817 metres above sea level, mentioned in the Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land that he would never enter. Lunch on the way. Drive to Petra for dinner and overnight. Optional visit to Dead Sea. (B, L)

Early morning visit to Petra. View the magnificent Treasury, temples, tombs, houses  and the amphitheatre. Lunch served at a restaurant inside the Petra site. Afternoon dive back to Amman. (B, L)
