Take a scenic drive along stunning Chapman’s Peak Drive en route to Cape Point Nature Reserve. Stop at the Cape of Good Hope before arriving at Cape Point. Ride a funicular to the steps of the old lighthouse with panoramic views of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Boulders Beach to see a colony of endangered African penguins. Free time this evening. (B,L)TOUR HIGHLIGHTTUXEDO JUNCTION Jackets aren’t required on Boulders Beach, even though the residents look dressed to the hilt. The only penguins found on the continent, African penguins are known for the unique sound they make. After a morning at leisure, leave the city behind and journey into the stunning Winelands. The first stop is Delaire Graff Estate, the jewel of the Winelands. This morning, we venture out to the [LF] Featherbed Nature Reserve in Knysna. Situated on the Western Head in Knysna, the reserve is the premier eco-experience on the Garden Route giving guests an unforgettable experience on the Knysna Lagoon. The Lagoon, more accurately defined as an estuary, has five freshwater rivers flowing in from the surrounding Outeniqua Mountains meeting with the surge of sea water from the Indian Ocean through the mighty headlands – known as the ‘Knysna Heads’ - the grand sandstone cliffs towering above the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon. Your visit here contributes to Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Indian Ocean Humpback Dolphin Project, focusing on monitoring species reproduction and overall count.
